The Iconic Okavango Delta
A river delta usually leads to the open sea, but the delta formed by the Okavango River is different. After rising in Angola and flowing southeastward for 1000km through the Kalahari desert, it meanders into central Botswana and branches out to create a lush wetland oasis, sustaining life for some of the world’s most endangered species of large mammal all year round.
One of the unique characteristics of the region is that the annual flooding from the river occurs during the dry season and native plants and animals have synchronized their biological cycles with these dramatic seasonal shifts. It is an exceptional example of the remarkable interplay between different natural systems and processes.

Sossusvlei
Experiencing the stark beauty of towering red sand dunes, rising to meet sunrises and sunsets, feels nothing short of otherworldly. A natural wonder, a photographer’s paradise, a hiker’s challenge, and a place to marvel at nature’s resilience and artistry.
Despite its arid conditions, Sossusvlei supports unique life forms, including gemsbok, springbok, jackals, and beetles, adapted to survive in the harsh desert. The Nara melon and other hardy plants thrive, providing sustenance for the ecosystem.
Skeleton Coast
The Skeleton Coast, located along Namibia’s northern coastline, is one of the most remote and hauntingly beautiful regions in the world, defined by its stark contrasts: towering sand dunes, vast gravel plains, and the pounding Atlantic Ocean.
Its name comes from the numerous rusting shipwrecks and skeletal relics scattered along its shores, the eerie result of treacherous fog over rough seas, strong currents, and the unforgiving desert.
Damaraland
located in northwestern Namibia, Damaraland is a rugged and strikingly beautiful region characterised by its dramatic landscapes, unique wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. It is named after the Damara people, one of Namibia's oldest ethnic groups, who still inhabit the area.
Damaraland features a diverse and breathtaking terrain, including granite outcrops, vast open plains interspersed with dry riverbeds and rugged valleys and petrified forests with ancient fossilised trees estimated to be over 280 million years old.
The region is known for its desert-adapted wildlife, which thrives despite harsh conditions. Notable species include desert-adapted elephants, black rhinos, lions, giraffes, springbok and gemsbok.

Experiencing Hwange National Park offers a true African wilderness experience, with vast open plains, dense woodlands, and one of the largest populations of elephants in Africa. Known for its exceptional game viewing, including the Big Five, Hwange is ideal for those seeking a classic safari. this is one of gabi’s favorite destinations all year round.
Mana Pools on the Zambezi River is a stunningly remote UNESCO World Heritage site known for its tranquil atmosphere and incredible wildlife encounters. The park is famous for its walking safaris, giving visitors a more immersive, intimate experience with nature. Mana Pools is home to lions, leopards, elephants, and a variety of birdlife, with beautiful views of the river and surrounding landscape.
Victoria Falls is one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders on the planet, offering dramatic views of the falls themselves, as well as thrilling activities such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting, and river cruises. The falls serve as a central hub, with easy access to both Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Malilangwe Reserve, located in southeastern Zimbabwe, is a private reserve that offers an exclusive safari experience in a malaria-free area. Known for its diverse landscapes—from savannahs to dense forests—Malilangwe is home to rare species like the African wild dog, black rhino, and an abundance of big game.

the iconic Serengeti and the lamai triangle
Known for its vast, sweeping plains and incredible wildlife, the Serengeti is one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet and one of the most famous in Africa. It forms part of the larger Serengeti Ecosystem, which extends into Kenya’s Masai Mara (via the lamai triangle), creating one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife migration corridors. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti offers exceptional year-round game viewing, with high densities of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and more. The open terrain makes sightings particularly rewarding, and you can explore the region through game drives, hot-air balloon safaris at sunrise, or guided walks in some areas.

The Maasai Mara is world-renowned for its sweeping savannahs, abundant wildlife, and the dramatic Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras thunder across the plains. volcanoes national park and Nyungwe forest national park
home to more than a third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge, Volcanoes National Park is located in the shadow of the Virunga Volcanoes, a chain of eight dormant and active volcanic mountains. The five main volcanoes that form the core of the park include: Mount Karisimbi, Mount Visoke, Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabyinyo. The park is also deeply connected to the legacy of Dian Fossey, the American primatologist who spent years studying and conserving mountain gorillas in Rwanda. outside of gorilla trekking, extended stays in rwanda are incredibly rewarding, offering unique activities like golden monkey trekking, bicycle tours, nature walks and opportunites to rest and reset.
Located in southwestern Rwanda, Nyungwe is one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. It is home to over 500 chimpanzees, including two habituated groups suitable for trekking . Treks typically begin early in the morning and can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the chimps' location . The dense forest also hosts 12 other primate species, making it a hotspot for primate enthusiasts. The park offers additional attractions such as the East Africa’s only canopy walkway, birdwatching opportunities, and scenic hiking trails.

Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania, is a scenic and diverse savannah park known for its dramatic landscapes and impressive wildlife comeback story. Unlike Rwanda’s lush forests, Akagera is dominated by rolling grasslands, acacia woodlands, and a network of lakes and wetlands, giving it a classic East African safari feel. Once nearly depleted of wildlife due to conflict and poaching, the park has undergone a remarkable transformation through conservation efforts

The sheer size of Kruger means there is plenty to explore, including riverfronts, dense bush, and open savannahs. Kruger also provides guided safaris and walking tours for a more immersive experience.
the Northern Cape offers a different kind of safari, with vast semi-desert landscapes, rugged mountains, and unique wildlife like the Black-maned lions of the Kalahari.
